The County Administration Center was lit May 5 for Missing Murdered Indigenous Women and Relatives.
The Indigenous Sovereign Nations (ISN) employee resource group is inviting everyone to wear red on May 5, and attend marches and rallies to raise awareness and fight against the injustice that is happening to Indigenous women.
A red hand over the mouth has become the symbol for the movement. It represents silence of the media, law enforcement, and the oppression and subjugation of Indigenous women rising to say #NoMoreStolenSisters.
Indigenous women make up a significant portion of the missing and murdered cases. The murder rate is ten times for Indigenous women, than the national average of women.
Did you miss “Speaking Our Stories III”? The May 4 lunch and learn, which coincided with Mental Health Month, was a collaboration between the Middle East Employee Resource Group, the County of San Diego Filipino-American Employees Association, the Asian Pacific Alliance of County Employees and the Emerging Workforce Association.

Join and support the San Diego County Employees’ Charitable Organization’s “fun”raiser at Petco Park for a Star Wars-themed game on June 17.
The Padres will take on the Rays. There be themed characters and activities at the game, but if you buy a special ticket, you’ll get an exclusive Obi-Juan Kenobi bobblehead.
County employees, family and friends will get exclusive seating. To buy a ticket for the game, there are two ticket options:
$38 for a CECO seat
$51 for a CECO/Star Wars-theme ticket that comes with an exclusive Obi-Juan Kenobi bobblehead
Buy your tickets today! Ticket sales close June 12. There are limited quantities for each ticket option in Section 320. You may mix and match your ticket options and still be seated together.

Get active with the Emerging Workforce Association (EWA) at Lake Poway for a family hike and bring-your-own-lunch on May 20.
The meet-up is from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, May 20 at the Lake Poway Concessions Stand, 14644 Lake Poway Road. The 2.5-mile walk will start at 9:15 a.m. with the picnic to follow.
The gathering is free, but Lake Poway charges a $5 entrance fee.
The picnic will be held in Area 8, closest to the trailhead, where you will find three large picnic tables.
Since this is an outdoor event, consider the following recommendations:
Apparel: must wear comfortable, closed-toe shoes; sunscreen and sunglasses/hat highly recommended
Water and light snacks will be provided but bringing your own coolers, lawn chairs, and personal shades is encouraged
