DPW, especially the Alpine Road Station Crew

The crew was praised by the Chairman of the Alpine Revitalization Committee.

“There is nothing to me like good roads - not only for the smooth ease of traffic, but for the fine community appearance. I’m always amazed at the professional manner in which DPW and its contractors handle these projects. They perform high quality work quickly, with minimal traffic disruption, and always with courtesy and kindness to drivers.

Monica Sedlund and Manuel Serrano (ARCC/Real Estate)

Sedlund and Serrano "are an example of government for the people at its finest.”

“These two people exemplified service, humility and compassion in what was a very stressful situation for me. I epitomize the ‘housing bubble’ purchaser who has watched double digit declines in my property value for three + years. Your staff understood with great empathy and outstanding service. The present culture at the Assessor’s office seems to know that we are all in this economic crisis together.”

Officer Ken Amerige (Probation)

Amerige was thanked for “going the extra mile to locate a minor who had been missing for 102 days.”

“Had it not been for Officer Ken who answered his phone on Sunday morning, my son would not be in custody and getting help. He would still be hiding out in a drug house...I hope you have more trained officers in your unit like Ken so these kids don’t run amok.”

Jennifer Gillespie (ARCC)

Gillespie was “very kind, professional, efficient, informative and (of all things) so patient!”

“It might be difficult at times for the County staff to work with the public who has been trained from the first that we have our ‘rights’ and the majority of us are quicker to complain and protest than to compliment. This is not the only time the County deserved a compliment, just the most recent one. I owe you thanks and praise.”

Heidi Barajas and Michael Anderson (Probation)

Along with Departmental K-9 ‘Kilo,’ these two officers impressed both counselors and students at a North Park School.

“Thank you from all of the staff for your wonderful presentation. Your willingness and enthusiasm to work with our students is so much appreciated. Michael and drug dog ‘Kilo’ from the Gang Task Force added an additional element. It was fascinating for us all to watch Kilo in action!”

The Juvenile Hall Open House (Probation)

All of the hard work put into this event provided a “priceless opportunity” for an 8th grade history teacher and her daughter who toured the facility.

“I was impressed with all of the information and the personnel. They were so strict on the tour and yet so informative and committed to rehabilitate the detainees. Thanks to Monica Everett for making me aware of this opportunity. I saw a great turnout and I thought the simulation exercise was invaluable!”
