“I appreciate the continuing support of our Director, LeShay Shaw and our Managers, Rick Cacha & Diana Eid-Chammas for their guidance with our day to day operations and especially during the beginning of the COVID19 pandemic. They were instrumental in keeping our offices operating with the least impact to our clients and client department. I’m thankful for their leadership.”

California Family Rights Act Expands

CFRA1_1500px.jpg

The California Family Rights Act (CFRA) recently expanded with updates to leave requirements. Here’s what you need to know about the changes:

What’s new?

Effective Jan. 1, 2021, CFRA has expanded to include leave to care for additional family members with a serious health condition. This means employees are now eligible to take leave to care for their:

  • Sibling

  • Grandparent

  • Grandchild

  • Registered domestic partners (adults and children)

Can I take leave for myself or other family members?

Yes, you may still qualify for leave under CFRA and/or Family Medical Leave to care for yourself or the following family members with a serious health condition:

  • Spouse

  • Child (of any age)

  • Parent

Any other significant changes?

  • Both parents are now eligible to each take up to 12 weeks of leave for bonding.

  • To care for a domestic partner, you will need to confirm that they are a registered domestic partner through the California Secretary of State.

Where can I get more information about leaves?

You may view the  FMLA/CFRA Policy online.

How do I apply for leave?

Please reach out to your Department Human Resources Officer (DHRO), who will assist you with the leave process.
