Penny Scarbrough, the teacher who adopted Cher, and some her students from Hillsdale Middle School in El Cajon at the County's San Diego animal shelter.

Inspired to help
Penny Scarbrough's students were inspired by Cher and her brother Sunny, who both arrived at the shelter last year with their ears cut off, to help other animals. They brought these donations to the shelter on March 12.

Spirit Fund
Penny Scarbrough presents County Animal Control Lt. Dan DeSousa with a $250 her students raised for the Spirit Fund. The fund helps pay for specialized surgeries requiring an outside veterinary specialist that Animal Services cannot normally afford.
