County executives organized a health fair for students at Monarch School. -
Pirates of the Caribbean at the CAC (7)
On Friday, Aug. 12, the County Administration Center hosted its first-ever outdoor film. Board of Supervisors Vice-Chairman Ron Roberts introduced the night and shared the County's plans to build the Waterfront Park around the CAC. There were two gourmet good trucks on site, and a craft table for kids. The event was a great success, with about 250 people in attendance. -
2011 Camp Connect (64)
Over 80 foster kids spent time bonding with their siblings at Camp Connect in Julian. Camp Connect is a 4-day family bonding experience designed to reunite foster youth with their siblings who live in different home. -
2011 Camp Connect Kickoff (32)
More than 80 foster youth lugged suitcases, pillows and personal items onto a bus bound for Camp Connect San Diego, which takes place at a campground in Julian. The four-day camp gives foster youth siblings who are unable to be placed in the same household an opportunity to strengthen their family bonds. They will participate in activities such as rock wall climbing, swimming, hiking, scrap booking, a talent show, dance, and a mud pit. -
Cher and friends visit Animal Services (5)
Cher, one of two littermates who arrived at the County’s San Diego shelter after someone cut off their ears last year, visited her old friends at Animal Services on Saturday, with a bunch of new friends in tow. -
2010 Camp Connect (26)
Camp Connect is a four-day summer camp for foster youth who are separated from their siblings. The camp is a chance for them to spend time re-connecting and just having fun. It's put on by HHSA's Child Welfare Services, the United Way of San Diego and Promises2Kids and staffed by volunteers. Here are some photos from the kickoff event and the camp up by Julian. -
2010 HHSA/Chargers Adoptions Calendar Photo Shoot (12)
Every year HHSA Foster and Adoptive Resource Family Services produces a very popular and sought-after calendar featuring children waiting to be adopted photographed with San Diego Charger players. The shoots are done and the design work has begun on the 2011 edition. Here are some behind-the-scenes shots from the last day of shoots featuring Philip Rivers with Ramzi and Quentin Jammer with Cecilia and Sakura. -
Moorea the Therapy Cat Goes to San Francisco (7)
Moorea was adopted from DAS in October of 2009. Since then, she has donated hundreds of hours as a certified Pet-Assisted Therapy cat. On July 16th, Moorea was recognized as the Pet of the Year by the California Veterinary Medical Association's Animal Hall of Fame. The photos are of her trip to San Francisco to accept her well deserved recognition. -
Adapted Camp (23)
It’s summer break, a time when many school-aged children are preparing to get away to summer camps. For South Bay families of children with physical disabilities such as cerebral palsy, spinal cord Injuries and other muscle diseases, it can be a difficult to find safe and affordable local activities. Recognizing that need, the California Children Services’ Chula Vista Medical Therapy Unit is offering a “camp” experience to children with disabilities. This therapy unit is a San Diego County Health and Human Services Agency facility that provides free physical and occupational therapy to more than 30 children ranging in age from newborns to 21 years old. -
March for Babies (93)
More than 200 employees recruited family and friends to "March for Babies" in Encinitas and Balboa Park, raising almost $37,500 for the March of Dimes. A special thank you to Holly Davidson with the Registrar of Voters for coordinating all of the details! -
2010 Administrative Professionals Event (38)
More than 300 administrative professionals from across County departments boarded the Hornblower Bay Cruises' "Inspiration" today for lunchtime cruise around San Diego Bay. The annual event to honor the County's administrative professionals is presented by the Community Services Group. -

Resident elf, a.k.a Administrative Secretary Jan Estavillo, decks the halls each year the day after Thanksgiving with custom-made, themed decorations. -

Law Enforcement Memorial (12)
On May 6, 2009, the 78 fallen officers of the San Diego region were honored for their heroism with a memorial at the County Administration Center.
